Tick Control Using a Flea and Tick Collar
What to Look for in a Flea and Tick Collar
Tick collars are more appropriate for animals that spend a lot of time outdoors.
Tick collars tend to work best when used in conjunction with other flea and tick control programs.
Most tick collars are water resistant but not water proof. Remove them from your pet during bathing or
shampooing.
When you first buy a tick collar, watch your pet closely for any adverse or allergic reactions.
Tick collars should be used carefully with very old, sick, or debilitated pets.
Most tick collars shouldn't be used on pets less than 12 weeks old.
Different tick control ingredients are used in dog collars and cat collars. Don't use a dog collar on a cat, and
vice versa.
Talk to your veterinarian about before starting any program of tick or flea control for your pet.
